A simile is a comparison using like or as. A metaphor is a comparison without using like or as. Similes and Metaphors are an important part of writing because they help describe things and they help create a visual in the reader or listener's mind. Similes and Metaphors both spice up the writing and help with getting the point across.

Martin Luther king's dream

Millions of people lived by Dr. Martin Luther King's dream to the best of their abilities but have still fallen short of what was expected. King stated on the night before his assassination,"but I want you to know that tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promise land." Dr.king knew that deep down and at some point in life we would achieve racial equality. If Dr. King walked into my classroom today he would be proud of somethings but disappointed at others.

Dr. Martin Luther king would be extremely over joyed that we are now being treated with respect, and as equals. When he walked into our classroom he would notice that we had a Caucasian teacher who we could have an open conversation with even though some of us were Latino and African American. King would be overwhelmed by how we act as if we were never unequal and how we work so well together.

Dr. King's excitement and joy would quickly wear off when he realized how we still have problems accepting one another. He would be disappointed in the way we treat one another and how we disrespect our elders and our own family members. Dr.King wouldn't understand how we could call ourselves equal but still judge each other and hurt each other as if we weren't.

Dr.King would be so moved by how much he has changed our country and by how so many people followed in his footsteps. He would probably continue to try to make a change and stop violence and other problems that we face today. Such as becoming equal overall not just equal by race but in gender, age, occupations, ect. Dr. King's dream of equality would be just the beginning of what he felt needed to be accomplished.

Hyperbole!

A hyperbole is something that is overly exaggerated. Like if i were to say i felt like i was bleeding to death. literally i was not bleeding to death but you would see a perfect picture of how much blood there was and how it felt. Using hyperbole's makes writing interesting and keeps the reader engaged. Without hyperbole's writing would be boring, dull, and too serious.
